Amélie

I subbed in for Kokandy’s production of Amélie as Piano Conductor, and it was the second time I was put in a position like this (in a row)!

What a process. I got to watch the show about 3 times and then had to play and lead the show. This was a incredibly interesting production since it was all actor musicians, except for me and Kara Olander on Bass. Jumping into a show like this, everyone knew the show much better than I did since they have already had a rehearsal process and 40 shows under their belt. My first show playing was rough as expected, but with the help of Lucas Burr, Ariana Miles, and MD Anna Wegener, I picked up some cues and learned to lead the show! I even helped to work through an understudy rehearsal since, like Diana, there were many ins and outs for cast members working with the extension.

This was an incredible cast to work with, and I finally got to work with my good friend Rory Penepacker after 2 years! I’m very thankful for Anna and the rest of the Kokandy team for trusting me with a little piece of Paris!
